Here are a few creative service ideas to help get start 2016 on the right note:
1 – Have a Manicure Night at a Nursing Home
Get a group of friends together and arrange with your local nursing home an evening where you can come and give the elderly women manicures. It’s a great opportunity to listen to stories from their lives and help them feel pampered.
2 – Make Dinner for a Friend
Perhaps your friend is sick, just had a baby, or maybe they just have too much going on in their life. Bringing your friend dinner on a crazy evening will truly show you’re thinking about them and supporting them during this time.
3 – Teach Adults to Read
See if your local library or community center offers adult literacy classes. For just an hour or two a week you could really contribute to a positive change in someone’s life.
4 – Host a Book Drive
Find a school in your local area and see if they are in need of books. If so, organize a location where people can drop off book donations. Create flyers and promote the drive throughout the city and on social media.
5 – Create Feminine Hygiene Bags for Homeless Women

Many thrift stores will sell purses or bags for only a few dollars each. Clean out the purses and fill with some or all of the following items:
- Pads & tampons
- Lip Balm
