October is absolutely one of my favorite months of the year. The air gets slightly chill and crisp and the leaves turn glorious colors (unfortunately we don’t get a lot of this in LA). I love having a reason to break out my sweaters and beanies and it finally becomes a necessity for yummy hot drinks. Halloween is in full display and that means time for costumes and themed parties!
I love attending (and throwing) themed parties, so Halloween is always a prime opportunity to really go full out. This year I thought it’d be fun to throw a spooky twist on a classic fall drink to serve at a party. And it’s crazy easy to make, which is essential for me when I’m anywhere near a kitchen.
2 QT apple cider
1 orange (sliced)
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon nutmeg (or whole cloves)
1-1&1/2 cup blackberries
- Put all ingredients into a pot or slow cooker.
- Cover and set heat to low for 1&1/2 hours.
- Can be served hot or chilled.
So voila! Simple as that. Even my boyfriend said it was delicious and he usually doesn’t like apple cider. So I might just have to whip up another batch in time for Halloween…
